Weekly Overview in Fallout Gamer's World

At the end of the week, the VTi team scan their memory banks to identify the incontrovertibly best and worst moments of the last week. Then, when confronted with the sum total of human ecstasy and misery, they write about Fallout gaming instead.. This week's news in case you've missed something:

Let's Talk About: Fallout New Vegas DLC
Why waste time with an introduction? Here's my thoughts on the New Vegas DLC. DEAD MONEY - Alot of people don't like this one. And I totally get why. Dead Money is brutal, but not in the way we've come to expect out of these DLC. There's no suped-up unstoppable enemies, no annoying bullshit boss, and it's most DEFINITELY not a monotonous grind, though the environment can grate a bit. Dead Money whisks you away to the fabled Sierra Madre; Something really cool in New Vegas was that all the DLC were constantly hinted at before they even came out, so some of you with a sharp eye may have heard of this fantastical place before you were deposited at its door...

Fallout 3 - Cut Content
Throwing is a skill from the first two Fallout games, which in Fallout 3 was consolidated into the Explosives skill to simplify gameplay. There are Pip-Boy images in the game's texture file which reveal that it was planned to return at some point before ultimately being cut. The image intended for use as its skill icon was later used in Fallout: New Vegas for the Heave, Ho! perk. Fallout 3 cut content refers to content in Fallout 3 which was cut from the final version of the game. Most of it can still be found in the game files but is inaccessible within the game itself. The equipment can still be obtained by use of console commands.

Fallout: New Vegas - Cut Content
"You are a master of the outdoors. This Perk confers the ability to survive in hostile environments. You get a +20% bonus to Outdoorsman for survival purposes, for each level of this Perk." - in-game description in Fallout. Survivalist is a Fallout, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics perk and a cut perk in Fallout: New Vegas. This perk doesn't exist in the G.E.C.K. but an image of a Vault Boy named "perk_survivalist" can be found in the game files and proves that the perk was planned.

Speedrunner beats the Fallout 3 game in less than 24 minutes (VIDEO)
Beating Fallout 3 in 24 hours is impressive enough, but 24 minutes? And in all honesty, this world-record speedrun through the game doesn't look like a whole lot of fun. But it is almost unbelievably quick, thanks in part to gameplay tricks that take advantage of oddities in the Gamebryo engine. "Load clipping," for instance, lets players pass through solid objects, while the skillful use of quicksaves and quickloads allows sections of dialog to be skipped. The character build emphasizes endurance and intelligence to maximize survivability while running through enemy fire and irradiated water, and of course the player obviously has a pretty good degree of familiarity with the game as well...
